Balance New York, an independent expenditure committee, believes in a healthy debate and that our state is better off when more voices are involved in making policy – not less.
We are dedicated to fighting off efforts that would allow one party to seize control of the entire state government – crowding out ideas and pushing aside perspectives from all New Yorkers. To date, our efforts have been focused on winning and keeping a clear Republican majority in the New York State Senate.
In the 2014 election cycle, Balance New York was responsible for executing a $1.6 million plan in a successful effort to regain a Republican majority in the State Senate.
Elections have consequences and with Bill de Blasio and the New York City Council pushing a fiscally irresponsible and unsustainable agenda in New York City, the stakes couldn’t be higher. But control of New York City isn’t enough; de Blasio has lead a statewide charge to carry out an agenda that will increase taxes, impose more regulations and drive job creators and families out of New York.
The only line of defense against that happening is keeping a Republican majority in the State Senate. A majority committed to defeating these job-killing proposals.
We need only to look back to 2009-2010 when there was one-party rule in Albany. During that session, not only did taxes increase, but spending spiraled out of control as deficits ballooned and job creators closed up shop.
Keeping a Republican majority in the New York State Senate is not only possible – it is critical. Without it, we are one vote away from higher taxes and a disastrous agenda being imposed on all of us throughout the state.
